BSSSC Board Meeting in Cesis
The BSSSC board came together for the second time under the chairmanship of Schleswig-Holstein on May 28/29 2024 in Cēsis in Latvia.
The first day was spent at the Space Education Centre in Cēsis. After some welcoming words the Mayor, Jānis Rozenbergs, took everybody on a virtual tour around the municipality of Cēsis. Afterwards the board engaged in a lively discussion about „The culture of democracy: strengthening social resilience of communities“. This was exemplified by a presentation of the city of Rūjiena that recently obtained the title as „Baltic Sea Cultural Pearl“ and is now working on a concrete and very ambitious Action Plan in order to increase social resilience through cultural activities. BSSSC chairman and Minister for European Affairs of Schleswig-Holstein also spoke to the board and underlined the importance of cooperation among the Baltic Sea States Sub-Regions to share the experiences in resilience-building on a transnational level.
On the second day the BSSSC board came together at Cēsis‘ Concert Hall to discuss relevant topics for the Baltic Sea States Sub-Regions, among others the future of the European cohesion policy and the input of BSSSC to the revision of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.
The BSSSC Annual Conference 2024 will take place on September 19/20 in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. Registration is now open.
