Building a resilient Baltic Sea Region - 30 years of BSSSC
as a driver for strong regional involvement
The BSSSC Annual Conference 2023 will take place in Szczecin, Poland 12 till 13 September.
The focus will be on Celebrating 30 years of Baltic Sea Region cooperation, the role of the Regions in the time of crises – challenges and opportunities in the green transformation.

This is the only such large public building in Poland designed with a passive system. The new building of the Marshal's Office in Szczecin hides many technological features and innovations. And from the doorstep guests are greeted by a green wall and the gentle sound of water.

It has about 14,000 sq. m. of space, six floors above ground and a two-level underground parking garage.
- The building is filled with intelligent, pro-ecological solutions that ensure very high energy and water savings, optimal use of natural heat and light, and create a space that is friendly to people and the environment," underlines West Pomeranian Marshal Olgierd Geblewicz.
The Marshal's headquarters on Mazowiecka Street uses eight times less energy than a standard facility. It uses state-of-the-art solutions, and energy is obtained from the earth and the sun. Recall that as part of the investment, 26 geothermal probe wells were drilled, each to a depth of 200 meters.
Importantly, the Passivehaus Institute in Darmstadt is not the only certificate awarded to the Marshal's Office. The building has also been awarded a BREEAM certificate at the Very Good level.
